Marquis66

The original band was formed in 1964 and named MARQUIS.  Four high school boys in Columbus, Ohio – Michael Kinnett, Greg Jones, Steve Jones, & Rod Share – joined together to make music, playing covers of great 60’s songs, perhaps to become famous and, of course, to attract girls.  They found success as they played many local dances and events, and recorded a single, “The Little Black Egg,” which was included in an album featuring other Columbus-area bands.  The Marquis band ended its first run after three years in 1967 when the boys were called to other duties in their lives – college, work and marriage.

Marquis66… was founded in August 2002 when two members of the original Marquis that performed in central Ohio during the 1960’s decided to re-form the band.  New members were added to the band who shared their vision of playing the music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s that they grew up with – so their audiences could re-live the memories of their early years.

The band recreates the sights and sounds of the era with vintage instruments (Gretsch, Hofner and Rickenbacker) and amplifiers (Vox, Fender and Ampeg).

Add authentic clothes, a light show and you have a night to ‘relive the memories’.

About the Musicians

STEPHANIE KNEPP — LEAD VOCALS — Stephanie Knepp is our lead vocalist and is the heart and soul of the band. She has most recently been with the Coverdolls. She has been performing professionally since the age of 18. She has performed all over Ohio and spent several years in England singing in bands.

DIANE JONES — VOCALS AND KEYBOARDS —  She has always had a passion for music and has sung in one form or another almost from the moment she was born.  She sang in church as a teenager, in school choirs and is currently a member of both her church choir and praise band.  She has played piano since the 60’s and the Beatles were also a major influence in her life.  While she has not been in a rock band before, this is her dream come true.  She helped from the beginning with Marquis66… by singing to assist Steve as they started playing together again. Diane Jones applies both her keyboard skills and her talent for vocal harmony to the band’s sound.

STEVE JONES — BASS GUITAR – is the original remaining founding member still with the band.  He was originally trained on keyboards and also learned drums and guitar.  In the original Marquis, he played both drums and bass guitar.  He remained interested in music, though time for it was limited as he pursued a business career.  When Michael Kinnett returned to Columbus, his desire in playing professionally was rekindled.   In Marquis66… he focuses on bass guitar.

DOUG TOFTNER — LEAD GUITAR/VOCALS – Doug Toftner handles lead guitar and outstanding male vocals. He has over 20 years experience as a professional performer. His vocals are in the style of the original artist.

JIMMY HAHN — DRUMS –  is the backbone of the band and has played professionally for over 20 years. He has a great sense of humor and along with Steve completes our sound!
