About the Musicians

“…a dynamic combination of music and comedy worthy of a traveling vaudeville act”

Boston Globe

This is joyous Bluegrass summer entertainment at its best, as DAVID MAYFIELD, the charismatic and comedic songwriter/singer/multi-instrumentalist – and Grammy nominated producer returns by popular demand.

Anyone who has seen David Mayfield perform has caught the charisma, the heart, and the comedy, and will be coming back for more. The David Mayfield Parade builds on his solid roots as a bluegrass musician, combining that background with folk, rock and his trademark humor and showmanship – as seen recently in “Ain’t Working” on NPR’s live Mountain Stage Radio Show:  https://livesessions.npr.org/videos/the-david-mayfield-parade-ain-t-workin-mountain-stage

Spirit Magazine described David as “this abundantly bearded multi- instrumentalist/songwriter impresses with a sound on the cutting edge of indie folk- rock” and the Nashville Scene said, “A massively skilled picker and singer with a knack for stagecraft.”

Plus he’s a songwriter –  David’s tunes are lovely, his extraordinary lyrics rich and touching – and his showmanship unequaled in contemporary bluegrass. The Boston Globe wrote, “A dynamic combination of music and comedy worthy of a traveling vaudeville act.”

The group’s joyous improvisations at the end of their two Lincoln Hall concerts brought them down the center aisle, performing as they went, to play for the audience from the back of Lincoln Hall – before moving to the patio where they serenaded departing guests with several rousing numbers. It was a natural! And that was the inspiration of bringing the group just up the hill from the village to perform an outdoor concert at beautiful Riverstone Estate – with Echo Valley.

Hailed as “…the wild man of Americana” by The Independent – ARCA Executive Director John Soroka says of Mayfield’s blazing musicianship, energy and physical showmanship:  “Think of him as the Mick Jagger of Bluegrass – but with a country-down-home goodness.”  Unique & Unforgettable…

Bring your all the blue grass loving friends you know to experience the return of The David Mayfield Parade – ALL- AMERICANA Bluegrass entertainment.

Please reserve early! Tickets are Adults $20, Students $5, Children under 6 Free.  Call to Reserve at 724-659-3153 and pay by cash or check at the gate  The Riverstone gates open open at 4:00 PM. For more information and to purchase tickets by credit card online, buy here.

Ohio-based Americana singer/songwriter David Mayfield has deep roots in the bluegrass and folk scenes. The Kent, OH native grew up playing bass and touring with his family’s bluegrass band and as a teenager, established himself as a hot picker and collecting national awards for his dexterity and deft flat-picking style on guitar and mandolin.

David’s knack for colorful performances was evident as a backing player in his sister Jessica Lea Mayfield’s band including their appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” He oozed personality on stage – a trait that makes him a natural frontman. He took his skills and personality when he joined the bluegrass outfit Cadillac Sky, playing sold out shows with British folk revivalists Mumford and Sons.

Around then Mayfield began writing songs after hearing artists like Randy Newman and Simon & Garfunkel. Encouraged by his sister Jessica, & friend Seth Avett, to record his original material, Mayfield did just that, to much acclaim. Since that time he has toured almost non-stop. Conscious of not just being a musician, but an entertainer – something his father instilled in him in the family band – he certainly makes an impression live. But it’s the strength of his songwriting and musicianship, combined with that charm and personality that keep audiences consistently lining up to join the parade.
