On the Eve of Foxburg’s Fall Festival, the ‘wildly charismatic’ BUFFALO ROSE – a six-piece modern folk/Americana band from Pittsburgh that has been touring the country and attracting audiences from bluegrass and roots to folk and pop – makes it debut in Lincoln Hall on Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 PM with gorgeous vocal harmonies and a string-band of dobro, mandolin, guitar and bass.
Selling out concerts on tour described as “dynamic live shows that are unforgettable experiences,” the rave reviews are in for Buffalo Rose and their combination of artistry and enthusiasm hailed as “one of most vital and important groups working today.”
“Glorious celebration of the human voice from Pittsburgh six-piece.” AmericanaUK
“Their creativity, lush harmonies, and dazzling arrangements make for an engrossing listening experience.” Boston Herald
“How can a band be loose and tight at the same time? Listen to Buffalo Rose for the answer. I flat love them.” Tom Paxton, folk music legend and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient
Their mix of harmonies, superb songwriting, and masterful musicianship creates an entirely new perspective on acoustic music. “This band offers tight tonal textures and surprising twists in their songs and the craftsmanship shines throughout.” Boston Herald Their most recent submission for the NPR Tiny desk contest a month ago delightedly demonstrates this:
Buffalo Rose takes the singer-songwriter tradition to a new level by crafting original songs which are emotive, meticulously arranged, and inspired by a world of idiosyncratic influences that never let a dull or predictable moment creep in – music that “gleefully combines genres and ideas together to move acoustic music forward to a new, contemporary place without ever losing sight of its roots.” Passim
Their sharp sense of rhythmic experimentation and evocative, storytelling lyricism come together for a sound with both shimmer and punch; it’s foot-tapping and breathtaking in turn. Buffalo Rose offers a warm, passionate homage to America’s classic musical traditions, with modern twists that keep things interesting—and fun.

Buffalo Rose had the opportunity to work closely with legendary folk icon, Tom Paxton during the dark days of COVID. They co-wrote the songs on their EP, Rabbit, with Tom and they also reinterpreted a song of Tom’s called “I Give You the Morning.” The video for the song includes archival footage of Pete Seeger introducing Tom to his audience and in a similar manner, Buffalo Rose is introducing Tom to their audience as well. The grand part of this musical partnership is that it portrays a musical bridge between generations across time.
Formed in Pittsburgh, PA in 2016, the group blends folk, soul, and bluegrass into something amorphously Americana, but decidedly their own.
The Buffalo Rose lineup of Lucy Clabby (vocals), Margot Jezerc (vocals), Bryce Rabideau (mandolin), Malcolm Inglis (dobro), Jason Rafalak (upright bass), and Shane McLaughlin (guitar, vocals) use powerful vocal harmonies, strong playing, and an original vision to operate at every possible emotional level and put on dynamic live shows that are unforgettable experiences.
They go from up and moving to sad and sweet and back again, bringing the entire audience along.
Bring your friends… bring your parents for a show that will bridge all generations. Dancing at the back of the hall.

Whether dancing at the back of the hall or entertained in your seat – this will be an unforgettable night in Lincoln Hall.
The new album from Buffalo Rose, ALL YOU CAN EAT, is a collection of covers ranging from Fleetwood Mac to Seal to Yebba – and each of the songs had advocates within the band, including “Kiss from a Rose.”
The album, according to Jezerc, is about having fun and being free. “Go to the buffet, and get a little bit of everything,” she said. “As artists, it’s so easy to get caught up in the shoulds and the shouldn’ts and the industry of it all. This record is, for us, an antidote to that feeling.”
