If you’ve loved TAKE3 Trio – you will be over the moon with the holiday music theatrics of C Street Brass. They are HOT and YOUNG and HAPPENING – one of the leading young brass groups in the country, bringing the classical world of brass music to the 21st century in their style and arrangements.
Hailed for radiating the joy of music-making, you will not want to miss their entertaining theatricality and virtuosic playing Christmas favorites. This quintet likes to have fun, and they will bear us Glad Tidings of Comfort – and Christmas JOY – as well as a few Broadway show tunes, sexy tangos, and cool bossas (not to mention some tasteful antics.)
C Street Brass began in 2008 as a small project between five friends who are coincidentally the most handsome men ever to grace the earth. Equally as comfortable in the sound world of baroque music as they are in broadway, C Street Brass’s mission is to connect lovers of the arts from all walks of life around a highly energetic and engaging concert experience.
Since then, they’ve performed across the country on performing arts series and internationally from Tbilisi, Georgia to Doha, Qatar – and conducted educational brass residencies at universities and conservatories from The Juilliard School and Peabody to the University of South Carolina and San Francisco State University.
Acclaimed for their “new sound, look, and feel of the modern brass quintet”, a decade ago C Street Brass inspired students at Allegheny-Clarion Valley Schools in small workshops in the community areas outside their classrooms for elementary students as well as two assemblies for grades K to 12.
In an after-school master class with brass band students, C Street musicians gave valuable technical and musical guidance to the students performing for them.
This is a highly creative, disciplined and entertaining group of fantastic young artists and each has a high-level talent on their own instrument. Collectively they have a wonderful group chemistry, and their energetic and engaging personalities make them an obvious audience favorite.
George Vosburgh – Former Principal Trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony and leader of the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass that performed an ARCA Christmas concert for many years – has said of the group, “C Street is the new sound, look, and feel of the modern brass quintet. Highly virtuosic playing in a wide variety of styles rolled into an accessible, warm-hearted candor which makes for a delightful concert experience. “
With the Christmas tree up – and stockings stuffed – bring the family for a night-to-be-long-remembered, as you are filled with the Spirit of the HO HO Holidays with consummate brass artistry and music-theatrical entertainment.
